Celebrate our nation's independence the old-fashioned way at Liberty Hall.  Bring a blanket and a basket, and enjoy a picnic on the lawn.  A brass band quintet will provide music behind Liberty Hall, 2:30-3:30 p.m.  There will be games and crafts for children, 2:00-4:00 p.m. Click here for the printable Independence Day Celebration flyer (pdf).

The event will be capped off with the announcement of the winner of the the Apple Dessert Bake-Off.  Everyone is invited to enter their apple dessert in the contest.  Click here for the printable Apple Dessert Bake-Off flyer; Bake-Off Rules; and Bake-Off Entry Form (pdf).

July 21 - Meet the Contractors
The public is invited to stop in and meet the contractors who have been working on Liberty Hall! Gerry Bessinger, Gene Butcher, Jon McKnight, and Clyde Reynolds will be at Liberty Hall to discuss the work they have completed.  Also, City of Frankfort Planning staff will be available to answer questions on local historic district regulations.  4:00-6:00 p.m. Free.

July 19-30 - Camp Shakespeare

Camp Shakespeare is a fun-filled two-week day camp for you ages 8-12.  New friendships are forged as campers explore all aspects of theatre through daily classes, games, and rehearsals.  Campers build their own Shakespearean production to be performed as the culminating event of the camp for an audience of family, friends, and public.  For information on registering your child, contact the Kentucky Shakespeare Festival at 502-637-4933 or visit www.kyshakes.org. July 26 - Garden Walk
Vicky Baker, Liberty Hall's professional gardener, will lead a tour through the gardens, highlighting the plants and flowers currently in bloom.  Walk begins at the smokehouse behind Liberty Hall at 11:30 a.m.  This program is free.

August 21 - Children's Activity
Has your child been inspired by the artwork of Brushstrokes & Blossoms?  Have you?  Then come to Liberty Hall between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to create your own masterpiece.  We will have art supplies set up in the garden.  This event is held in conjunction with the final day of the Brushstrokes & Blossoms children's art exhibit. $5.00 per child ($4.00 for Friends of Liberty Hall and NSCDA-KY).

September 30 and October 1 - A Very Brilliant Party
Liberty Hall Historic Site's annual fundraiser returns with the theme of "Stepping Out in Style: Exploring Horses, Carriages, and Kentucky in the 19th Century."  The event will include an exhibit about John Brown's carriages and carriage house, spirits and wine tastings, a silent auction, and a raffle of a unique Kentucky experience.  The 19th century style dinner will be created and served by Holly Hill Inn.  Tickets are $85 if purchased by September 1st; $95 if purchased after September 1st. October 29 and 30 - Ghosts of Frankfort
Ghosts of Frankfort is a Halloween tradition now in its 16th year.  Guests come to Liberty Hall to meet the people who lived--and died--in our historic homes.  They then depart in motor coaches for a trip to Ft. Hill.  There they encounter ghosts and other apparitions during a hay ride through the historic Civil War fort.  It’s SPOOKTACULAR!  Schedule and ticket information will be made available after September 15, 2010.
