and 14 - February Teas
A Bridal Tea for Miss Mary Yoder Brown
Join Eliza Brown as she hosts a series of bridal teas in honor of
her sister Mary Yoder Brown. "The Blossoming of Love During
the Civil War" is the theme of the 2009 February Teas.

April 8 - Hunger
for History Lecture Series -
Music of the Romantic Era
Bring your lunch to Liberty Hall and enjoy a
performance of music from the Romantic Era. Program
begins at noon and is free of charge; no reservations needed. A
small dessert and beverages will be served.
May 2 - Nineteenth Century Games at the Governor's Derby
Breakfast
Join the staff of Liberty Hall on the lawn of the Capitol for
19th century children's games during the annual Governor's Derby

May 21 - Preseason Tours of
Restoration in Progress
Visitors will have the opportunity
to tour Liberty Hall in its current pre-season state, view the
restoration projects in progress, and learn of the plans for further
work to be done in 2009 and 2010. Tours begin at 3:30 and 5:00
at Liberty Hall. Free.
May 29, 30 - Living in History Home and
Garden Tour
Liberty Hall and the Garden Club of Frankfort join to host this
year's Home and Garden Tour, Stained Glass & Blooms.
June 10 - Hunger for History
Lecture Series -
Tending the Lambs
A
costumed interpreter as Margaretta Brown will present “Tending the
Lambs,” a program on religious education in Frankfort during the 19th
century, particularly the Sunday school started by Margaretta Brown
in 1810. Bring your
lunch to Liberty Hall; a small dessert and drinks are provided.
Program begins at noon at Liberty Hall (come to the front door).
Free.
June 20 - Children's Tea Event -
Euphemia's Tea Party
Girls ages 6-12 are invited to this special new event at Liberty Hall Historic Site. The year is
1814 and Euphemia Helen Brown invites her friends in Frankfort and
their families to join her for an afternoon tea party. Learn tea etiquette,
then practice it over tea and cakes! View

July 13-24 -
Camp Shakespeare
at Liberty Hall
Camp
Shakespeare is a fun filled two-week day camp for youth. New
friendships are forged as campers explore all aspects of theatre
through daily classes, games and rehearsals. Campers build their own
Shakespearean production to be performed as the culminating event of
the camp for an audience of family, friends and public.

29-31 - Seeds, Weeds, and History Camp
A three-morning day camp for children entering grades 2-5.
Participants will learn about plants; about where food comes from;
and about the differences between backyards today and those 200
years ago. Includes a trip to the Frankfort Farmers' Market.
The cost is $35/child, $30/child for the children and grandchildren
of Friends of Liberty Hall or NSCDA-KY members. Registration
required and must be received by July 24, 2009. Limited to 20

Having a Baby the 19th Century Way
Learn how children would have
been born at Liberty Hall and the Orlando Brown House with Dr. Melanie Goan of the University of
Kentucky and Transylvania University. Bring your lunch to Liberty
Hall. A small dessert and beverages will be served. Free.
October 1, 2 - A Very Brilliant
Party
Join Margaretta Mason Brown at Liberty Hall, ca. 1802, as she
prepares to decorate her new home. Liberty Hall Historic Site's annual "friend-raiser." More

October 14 - Hunger for History
Lecture Series -
Not Just Mittens and Mush
Bring your lunch and your
pre-school aged children to Liberty Hall for this special program
for adults and kids. Librarian Carol Baughman will discuss the
life and works of Margret Wise Brown, the author of Goodnight Moon
and Runaway Bunny, with adults. Nearby, the children will have
a story time and activity based on Brown's celebrated books.
A small dessert and beverages
will be served. Free.
October 30, 31 - Ghosts of
Frankfort
Liberty Hall's annual Halloween event, held in collaboration
with Frankfort Parks and Recreation, brings the Ghosts of Frankfort
to life. Meet members of the Brown family who have long ago
departed...or have they?
