Liberty Hall Historic Site is a proud member of Made By Us, a coalition of history museums and historic sites joining forces to inform and ignite Gen Z civic participation, powered by history. We connect young people in every corner of the nation with our shared past, present, and future. Made By Us is collectively led by Atlanta History Center, Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, Colonial Williamsburg, Conner Prairie, First Americans Museum, History Miami Museum, National Archives Foundation, New-York Historical Society, Senator John Heinz History Center, and Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History.
Over 500 cultural & civic institutions in the US are hosting the fifth annual Civic Season between Juneteenth and July 4th, a new summer tradition for learning and action co-designed with Gen Z, the future inheritors of our democracy. Civic Season unites our oldest federal holiday with our newest, going beyond hot dogs and fireworks to invite meaningful reflection on our country's past and our role in shaping its future. Civic Season also builds momentum toward the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026.
As the home of Kentucky Statehood, we expanded Civic Season to include Statehood Day (June 1st) to inspire civic action on national, state, and local levels. Liberty Hall and our community partners joined together to become the first and only city-wide Civic Season celebration, which also makes Frankfort the only capital city to celebrate Civic Season. For a site with such a deep connection and commitment to civic virtue, we accept this distinction with great respect.
We couldn't have done it without our partners at NSCDA-KY, Local's, Blue Star Museums, Frankfort Heritage Week, Made by Us, City of Frankfort, Ale8, Together Frankfort, & Pizza to the Polls. Thank you!
